At Distinctive Smile Design, we only use prime materials that are body-safe and look completely natural. Amalgam-free materials, such as composites resins and beautiful porcelain, are known for their durability and ability to mimic natural tooth enamel. Using these materials allows our team to make sure every treatment remains strong and aesthetically pleasing.
Which Cosmetic Treatment is Right for Me?
Beautiful and lasting smiles cannot exist without a foundation of healthy teeth and gums. Sometimes, establishing strong oral health requires preventive or restorative procedures to treat issues such as decay or infection. As a dental practice that offers specialized restorative care, our dentists can perform everything from protecting gum health to dental implant placement and restorations.
We use appointments to conduct a detailed consultation, discussing your needs and goals for treatment. We also use this time to evaluate your diet, lifestyle habits, and anything else that could potentially impact your smile when creating your treatment plan.
In addition to a smile exam, our dentists also analyze your natural features, such as your eye color, skin tone, the shape of your lips, and the way your mouth moves when you speak. Your customized treatment plan may include more than one service or appointment, depending on your specific needs.
Creating Straighter, Healthier Smiles with Invisalign Clear Braces
Invisalign clear aligners allow you to enjoy a healthier and straighter smile without the need for traditional metal braces. While we provide all phases of orthodontic care and metal brackets for children, our dentists also offer Invisalign for adults and responsible teens.
How Does Invisalign Work?
Instead of using metal brackets and wires, Invisalign consists of a series of virtually invisible trays that gently straighten your teeth using pinpointed pressure. Each translucent aligner is designed to fit in your smile as your teeth become aligned, making treatment comfortable.
While you can remove your Invisalign aligners for eating and practicing oral hygiene at home, trays must be worn for at least twenty-two hours daily. This is necessary to help keep your treatment time on the right track as well as avoid shifting teeth.
Professional Teeth Whitening for a Dazzling Smile
Do you find yourself thinking twice before smiling for a photo? Are you generally happy with your smile except for its current shade? Professional teeth whitening could be the perfect solution for you!
At Distinctive Smile Design, we offer in-office and take-home whitening treatments using the power of Opalescence® for safe, effective, and beautiful teeth whitening.
How Does In-Office Whitening Work?
During your procedure, we first make sure your lips and gums are protected. We apply whitening solution directly to your teeth, making sure the application is even throughout. A special curing light will activate the whitening agent in the solution. This is administered in three fifteen-minute increments until the desired shade is reached, resulting in a typical treatment time of about an hour.
With in-office whitening, we can lighten your smile by up to eight shades in as little as an hour, depending on your level of staining.
What Can I Expect from Take-Home Whitening?
The only appointment needed for this method of whitening is for our team to take impressions of your smile. These impressions are used to create your custom whitening trays, making for a comfortable and perfect fit. Once your trays are ready, we make any necessary adjustments to ensure the whitening gel will rest closely against your teeth for even results as you whiten at home.
How Did My Teeth Become Stained?
Your teeth can become stained for many reasons; below are seven of the most common.
- Dark foods and drinks (red wine, berries, coffee, and tea)
- Smoking and tobacco use
- Poor dental hygiene
- Injury or trauma
- Environmental factors
Transforming Smiles with Porcelain Veneers
Whether you have severely discolored teeth or have multiple aesthetic issues in your smile, veneers are an excellent way to achieve the dream smile you have always wanted. Veneers are thin, durable shells made from porcelain or composite resin. They are carefully placed on the surfaces of teeth to make them appear as close to perfect as possible.
How do Dental Veneers Work?
When bonded to the surfaces of your natural teeth, veneers can provide you with a Hollywood-worthy smile almost instantly. With veneers, our dentists can help address everything from minor chips and cracks to severe tooth discoloration, misshapen teeth, and even mild forms of misalignment.
What is The Process of Getting Veneers?
At your consultation, we discuss what you like about your current smile and what you wish to change. If veneers are right for you, our dentists work closely with you to create a treatment plan that is unique to you.
Veneer treatment takes two visits to complete. The first including a detailed consultation, a series of x-rays, and an oral exam, as well as prepping your teeth for veneer placement.
Next, we gently buff away the outer layer of your enamel, only removing about half of a millimeter. We take digital impressions of your smile, which are sent to a trusted lab, where skilled ceramists fabricate your veneers. In the meantime, we place temporary veneers to help protect your teeth.
Your second visit is when we place your permanent veneers. Once bonded into place, you can leave our office with your new, completely customized smile!
Gum Contouring with Laser Dentistry
Dental lasers make it possible for us to perform safe gum contouring while helping to reduce discomfort and risk for infection, and accelerate recovery. Gum contouring is performed by our dentists using our soft tissue laser when there is too much soft tissue around the teeth, causing the appearance of a “gummy” smile. By removing excess amounts of gum tissue carefully, we can provide you with an overall even-looking smile.
Protecting Your Smile’s Health and Aesthetics with Gum Disease Treatment
A strong foundation of oral health is essential for the success of your cosmetic dental treatments. If you or a loved one are suffering from gum disease, don’t worry! A stunning smile is still in your reach!
Our Orland Park dentists provide professional care for gum disease with ARESTIN antibiotic treatment and scaling and root planing cleanings. For the early stages, we use the powerful antibiotics with tooth scaling to fight off bacteria while removing plaque and infection from teeth, above and below the gumline. We smooth out the surfaces of tooth roots during root planing to encourage proper gum tissue healing.
For complex cases, our dentists work with trusted periodontists to make sure you receive the specialized treatment you need to help eliminate the infection from your smile.
If you have lost one or multiple teeth due to advanced gum disease, we can restore your smile completely with dental implant placement and restorations. Contact us to find discover which tooth replacement options could work for you!
